WrestlingMart 4 Inch Mat Tape - Case of 18 Rolls

• Safety: Taping your mats is a great way to prevent injury. Gaps between mat panels can cause an injury to fingers, toes, and ankles.
• Hygiene: Like any training room, dust, sweat, and bacteria collect in tight, hard-to-clean spaces. Over time, that buildup raises the risk of mold and skin infection bacteria forming in the gaps between mats. Mat tape creates a barrier over the seam created by conjoining mat panels.
• Professional Look: A fully taped room looks organized and professional.

WrestlingMart owns and produces 3 brands of tape:

• MatMan: MatMan has been the trusted name in wrestling equipment for over 50 years. From youth programs to collegiate facilities to professional wrestling rooms, MatMan products have been part of the sport at every level. MatMan MaxTAPE carries that same legacy, a heavy-duty 8 mil mat tape built to perform in the demanding environments that serious wrestling programs require.

• WrestlingMart – Heavyweight: Our house label mat tape, a heavy-duty 8 mil product backed by WrestlingMart, one of the wrestling industry’s leading retailers. When you purchase WrestlingMart Heavyweight, you are buying directly from a company that has supplied wrestling programs, gyms, schools, and facilities across the country and knows what it takes to keep a mat surface safe and competition-ready.

• WrestlingMart – Tournament Tape: Tournament Tape is purpose-built for one of the most important environments in wrestling: competition day. Whether it’s a single dual meet, a weekend invitational, or a multi-day championship, WrestlingMart Tournament Tape is engineered to hold from the first match to the last.

• Length: 84 feet
• Width: 3-inch and 4-inch
• Thickness: 6 mil or 8 mil

4 inch tape gives a 33% greater contact surface area and adhesion. The extra tape helps a properly installed mat from shifting during practice activities such as sprints where the force switching directions shifts the mats and creates gaps between mat panels. They are the same tape, just more of it.

• 6 mil: tournaments and other temporary setups.
• 8 mil: for prolonged periods such as training rooms.

8 mil stretches up to 190% before it tears. 6 mil stretches to 160% before it tears. The extra elongation strength on the 8 mil takes more pressure at the seam in your training room.

6 mil grips slightly harder on contact vs 8 mil, which is why it works fine for a tournament weekend. But under daily foot traffic and constant impact, that early grip matters less than how far the tape can flex before splitting. That's 8 mil's job.

The 3 most common ways mat tape fails are:

• Splits at the seam
• Pulls up
• Mat panels slide apart while the tape stays adhered to one panel, no tear, no split, no pull up.

Any of these signals are a potential for injury.

Yes, but each reuse picks up debris on the adhesive, and that debris changes how well it sticks. We recommend against it.

Our published specs, adhesion, holding power, tensile strength, are tested on a fresh application. Once tape has been reused, those numbers no longer apply, and we can't guarantee the tape will perform to spec.

Inspect for wear, tear, bubbling, or pull-up on the tape. Replace it once you see these signals.

1. Clean and completely dry the mats.
2. Align the mat edges so there are no gaps or overlaps.
3. Center the tape directly over the seam.
4. Apply the tape gradually while keeping light consistent tension. We do not want the tape fully stretched on application.
5. Press firmly along the entire length of the tape to ensure good adhesion.
6. Check the seam before practice and replace tape when it begins to lift, tear, or wear through.
