ASICS Snapdown: The new standard for mid-level wrestling shoes

The ASICS Snapdown has set the new standard for mid-level wrestling shoes. It is perfect for someone who is past the beginner stage, but still doesn’t feel the need to overly fancy, high-tech shoes. The Snapdown features a simple, low profile, solid outsole to keep great traction at all times. The upper provides both comfort with ample padding and breathable mesh, as well as some extra support from the synthetic overlays. It also includes a handy little lace garage to keep your laces safely tucked in. At 10 ounces, it’s lightweight so you can move swiftly while setting up your best takedowns, and snapping your opponent to the mat!

If I was a size 11 men's shoe then what would my wrestling shoe size be and do u suggest a wrestling shoe should fit looser/tighter?!

    Joey P.'s picture

I would recommend to go with a size 11.5. The ASICS Snapdown runs a bit small so going up half a size should be a good fit. You would want your wrestling shoes to be comfortably tight.

I'm looking for this shoe in a youth size 6. Do you carry youth sizes?

    Dave Applegate's picture

Yes we carry youth shoes. Although with wrestling shoes, youth and adult shoe sizes bleed into each other. For example, a youth size range of K11, K12, K13, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 the size 5 is the same as an adult size 5 shoe : )

My son wears a 4.5 under armor sneaker. What size would you suggest ordering? Thank You!

    Joey's picture

Dallas - comparing the ASICS Snapdown to an Under Armour sneaker is a difficult thing to do without physically trying them on, but I will do my best. Even among wrestling shoes alone, there is a lot of size variation between brands and even between different styles within the same brand. We have a pretty good idea of how all our wrestling shoes compare to each other in size, because we see people trying them on in our store every day, but sneakers are a little different. In general, wrestling shoes tend to run smaller than most sneakers or running shoes. I would also assume that he's still growing, so you might want a little toe room. I probably wouldn't go any smaller than a size 5. You might even be able to get away with a 5.5, as the Snapdown runs slightly smaller than other wrestling shoes.

Hi, if I am 7.5 US size for my normal shoes should I go two sizes down for ASIC's WOMEN WRESTLING SHOES SNAPDOWN? Do you have a sizing chart like length so I can properly measure if two sizes down is the correct size for me?

    Dave Applegate's picture

I would suggest going down 1.5 sizes for the ASICS Snapdown. We are currently working on a men's to women's wrestling shoe size conversion chart for the website and should have it live very shortly : ) As for measuring length, we've found this to be a very challenging way to size wrestling shoes in the past and prefer to go off of how the size changes for each individual shoe!

Why do you say that wrestling shoes is very tricky?

    Dave Applegate's picture

Wrestling shoe sizing can be tricky because most people prefer their wrestling shoes to fit snugger than their everyday shoes. In addition, shoe sizing can vary not only between brands but individual shoes within that brand. If you're not used to wearing wrestling shoes and are sizing based off your street shoes, these factors can make it tricky to pick the right wrestling shoe size over the internet : ) At WrestlingMart, we try to build our brand off everybody loving us, and hiring wrestlers who actually know the products they sell. If you have any more particular sizing questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly at 888-887-8893

I'd like to know whats size should I order in this model. I am a woman and my size is between 8 and 8 1/2. I have an Everlast wrestling shoes and my size is this brand is 8. But my question is because this a man Asics Model!

    Dave Applegate's picture

Everlast only sells boxing shoes that people occasionally use for wrestling. Generally speaking, I would suggest going down 2 sizes from your normal women's shoe with the ASICS Snapdowns : )
