ASICS Aggressor 2: Updated features. Improved grip and durability. 100% Awesome.

The ASICS Aggressor 2 is the grandchild of Rulon Gardner’s signature shoe, the ASICS Rulon. He is the American heavyweight who famously defeated the Russian legend, Aleksander “The Experiment” Karelin, in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. They’re built for raw power and domination. The Aggressor series is well known for its durability, grip, and ankle support. This new version includes improvements on the outsole tread, as well as a new ankle strap (Hook and Loop Closure)/lace pocket combo. Despite their heavy-duty build, they are surprisingly lightweight and will keep up with even the fastest athletes. Side note: we recommend allowing a week or two for these battle boots to break in, and you’ll be right on track to dominate all of your opponents.

I bought these about 2 weeks before the season so I could have them thoroughly broken in and have my legs adjusted. By the time the season rolled around, there was still no give in the sole and my leg's were still taking a beating. About two months into the season, I began sliding when I attempted to dig my toes in. So within two months of owning the shoes that are supposed to have the best grip on the market ground down. I had to wear my shoes from last year just to be able to run basic moves. The only reason I am not giving one star is because they were pretty good for the six weeks they actually functioned. I also accept that I may put excessive wear on them compared to other people as I wrestle in the heavier weight classes. But by the same token, I don't understand how anyone that weighs sub-160 could break in the soles.

To be honest, I love these shoes. They are lightweight, flexible and are really comfortable after being broken in. The grip is awesome and I would recommend these to anyone.

I love these shoes. They break in so well and have an insane amount of grip. I just wish asics would bring back the old school Rulons.

When will the navy and green Asics Aggressor 2's be available?

ASICS has discontinued the Aggressor 2s and replaced them with the ASICS Aggressor 3. Once a shoe has been discontinued, we can no longer bring them in : (

Is this available in any color in size 9. The size chart says you have 2 available but the out of stock button comes up. I am a coach if you could let me know as soon as possible I would appreciate it. Thanks

    Dave Applegate's picture

Unfortunately, we are completely out of stock on the size 9 Aggressor 2. ASICS replaced them with the  Aggressor 3. They have the exact same outsole and a newly designed upper.

My son wears a 6 1/2 in youth size. What would the comparable size in mens size?

    Dave Applegate's picture

For wrestling shoes, there is no such thing as "youth" and "adult" sizes. For example, a size 4 in a youth shoe is the same as a size 4 in an adult shoe. Any 6.5 Aggressor should fit him fine if he is a size 6.5 wrestling shoe : )

Hello, I'm a 7.5 in a women's shoe, what size would you recommend I order in the aggressor 2 men's shoe? Also when will the lime green/ navy aggressor 2 shoe be restocked in sizes?

    Joey P.'s picture

I would recommend going down to a size 6.5 in the Aggressors. The navy/lime green Aggressors are no longer available. ASICS has stopped making the Aggressor 2 because they have come out with the new Aggressor 3’s.

    what is closed out ?

    Joey's picture

Closeout shoes, such as the ASICS Aggressor 2, are shoes that are being discontinued and no longer being produced by the manufacturer. Usually the reason for this is that a new version has been released so we drop the price on the older model to clear our inventory.

I have a narrow foot, I tried on the Cael v7's (size 11.5) at a local store and they fit nice. I was wondering how these would compare in width? I like to have my foot tight against the shoe wall.

    Joey's picture

The ASICS Aggressor 2 should be about the same width as the Cael, but keep in mind they are very different shoes. The Cael is very flexible, while the Aggressor is going to be much more stiff and rigid. They are, however, both considered "standard" when it comes to width.

are these shoes good for lifting in gym and other gym workouts?

    Dave Applegate's picture

Yes. All wrestling shoes, like the ASICS Aggressor, tend to make great lifting shoes because of their flat soles and minimal support. : ) I would tend to suggest a "less grippy" shoe for gym workouts though. Most power lifters tend to prefer the Adidas Adizero Varner or ASICS Cael V7.

I see that i should order this shoe in mens size not womens which im guessing is a size 7 since im an 8.5 in womens right? Also, do you think this shoe is good for the gym and lifting?

    Dave Applegate's picture

I would consider a 7.5 for the ASICS Aggressor. And yes, the ASICS Aggressors are great lifting shoes. We've had a lot of customer success as well with shoes like the Adidas Adizero Varner and Cael V7.0s. They tend to be a little less grippy and more flexible while still having very flat soles and minimal padding for those Olmpyic lifts : )

Hey Cheyanne! Unfortunately, the smallest size that the ASICS Aggressor 2 comes in is a size 6. However, if you aren't in a rush, you can pre-order the ASICS Aggressor 3, which goes down to size 4! Let us know if you have any other questions or need help finding a different shoe :]

Which are more comfortable, durable and flexible? The Nike Freeks or the ASICS Agressor 2

    Joey's picture

    Nate,

Both the ASICS Aggressor 2 and the Nike Freek are great shoes, and we have received tons of great feedback on both in terms of quality, comfort, and durability. The Nike Freek certainly has a more flexible outsole due to the grooves that allow it to basically be rolled into a ball. The Aggressor 2 is well known for its grip and durability. They're not quite as flexible as the Nike Freek. As far as comfort, that's a total judgment call; there's no solid answer either way as to which is more comfortable. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Wrestling shoe sizing tends to vary more between individual shoes compared to brands as a whole. The ASICS Aggressor 2 runs roughly true to size : )

Do they run bigger or smaller in size and whats the return policy if they dont fit

    Dave Applegate's picture

The Aggressor 2 tends to run true to size, not bigger or smaller. If they don't fit, you may send them back with a Return & Exchange Form, found on our Return Policy page. Once we receive them we will ship the correct pair back to you. Another option, if you wanted the new pair faster, would be to place a new order and return the first pair. Finally, you are always welcome to bring them into our store in Irvine to exchange them if you happen to be local. If you have any more questions, please feel to reach out to us directly at 888-887-8893 : )
