Adidas HVC 2 Youth Laced: The dependable workhorse of youth wrestling shoes

The HVC 2 Youth is the new and improved update to the original HVC. At first glance, it is difficult to see any difference between the two models. However, after close inspection you’ll notice that the HVC 2 uses entirely updated materials which provide much better durability and comfort. The upper features a lightweight synthetic suede and synthetic leather, offering lasting support. Its single layer mesh allows those tiny feet to breathe and stay comfortable through grueling practices and wrestling matches. In order to keep your youth wrestler’s feet firmly planted on the mat, the HVC 2 has a full length rubber sole, providing superior grip. Assuming you’ve managed to wrangle these shoes onto a young child and get the laces tied, this shoe has a sweet elasticized lace strap to keep them tied and secure.

I like the Velcro strap to keep the ankle tighter. The shoe is extra comfortable for my 6 year old.

The shoes lasted a long time and provided excellent grip and flexibility. They were worth it so much the when they finally wore out, I bought the same shoe again.

Great shoe for the price. Nice beginner shoe. Trained approx. 3 days a week for an hour at a time and they started to wear down rapidly at the 1 year point. Tongue tore out. But was ready for a bigger size anyway.

My son has a wide foot and wears a youth size 7 but I am unable to find that size in any wrestling shoe is this a good one for wide feet??

    Joey P.'s picture

If your son has wide feet a good option would be the Adidas Mat Wizard, Adidas Pretereo, Nike Inflict and Nike Takedown. The adult shoes for Adidas begins at a size 4 and Nike begins at 6.

i'm looking at wrestling shoes for my 9yr old son. hes just starting this season. do you think these are a good fit? what are the main differences b/w one shoe vs another

    Joey P.'s picture

There is a difference in some of the wrestling shoes. Some shoes have more grip and are less flexible. And some shoes are more flexible and have less grip on the soles of the shoes. But, if he is just starting off the Adidas HVC or the Asics Matflex 5 would be a great shoe to start. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us.

I'm getting these for my 9 year old daughter who outgrew a size 1 in another brand. I just want to double check the sizing for these. Is there a special size chart available?

The shoes are unisex but are in male sizes. There is no official Conversion chart that shows the conversion for male to female wrestling shoes. If you have questions on sizing, feel free to give us a call so we may assist you.

My son is a wide width boys sz7 shoe he is 12yrs. I have no idea what sz to buy he tried a 6 wrestling shoes it was way to small maybe he needs a sz8 wrestling shoe? Help pls.

    Joey P.'s picture

If you are interested in a wide fitting shoe I would recommend to take a look at the Adidas Mat Wizards, Nike Inflict 3 or Nike Freek. We have received good feedback from kids with wide feet saying these shoes fit comfortably. The Adidas Mat Wizards begin at a size 4(adult). The Nike Inflicts being at size 6. And the Nike Freek begin at a size 8. I would start with the Mat Wizards because those would be the wider shoe.

Any recommendations for a 2 yr old who wears a size toddler 7.5 nike sneaker? Looking for some form of wrestling shoe for him. He starts next month.

    Joey's picture

Natalia, the smallest wrestling shoes we carry are a kid's size 10. I'm not sure how that compares to a toddler 7.5. It sounds like it might be a little big on him, but it's the smallest we have.

    Hi Danie,

We would love to send you some Adidas HVC 2's for your kid. Unfortunately, we do not have international shipping through our website just yet. However, we also have an eBay store that does offer international shipping. I don't think the HVC 2 will be on that page for a few weeks, but we might be able to figure something out. I will send you an email with more details.

How can I figure out my shoe size for wrestling shoes

    Joey's picture

Finding your size for wrestling shoes, such as the Adidas HVC 2 Youth Laced, should be the same as most shoes, such as sneakers or running shoes, but we recommend going up about a half size. Wrestling shoes are unisex, but use the boys/men's size chart. If you're converting from women's to men's, you'll want to go down about 1 size. For example, a women's size 5 would be comparable to a men's size 3.5 or 4.
