On January 2, 2026, the university administration informed us that the program we have worked to establish as a Division I contender would be discontinued at the conclusion of this season. This decision was cited as a necessity for the university's transition into the Big West Conference, a body that does not currently sponsor wrestling. Consequently, decades of tradition and our collective aspirations have been sidelined to accommodate conference logistics and revised financial models.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe are now working to preserve a legacy that has spanned fifty years. The loss of the CBU Wrestling program would eliminate a vital Division I wrestling opportunity in Southern California, creating a significant gap for student-athletes across the state who wish to compete at the highest level while remaining close to home. Although the university has offered to honor existing scholarships, a financial commitment cannot replace the brotherhood and competitive platform we have built.
